Embrace Steel Group (ESG) has a mission to bring together handpicked structural and associated product/services companies through acquisition. The strategic vision of the group involves uniting complimentary businesses with turnovers ranging from £10 million to £50 million.

These enterprises, with a nationwide footprint covering the United Kingdom, will be characterised by the presence of skilful teams, adept at delivering top-quality operations. They will also display astute foresight, recognising compelling market opportunities and the potential for growth through consolidation, synergies, digital transformation and capital investment. The companies in the group to date are Hambleton Steel, based in North Yorkshire, and Shufflebottom in South Wales.

The Opportunity

ESG is now seeking an experienced Group Chief Executive Officer to lead, oversee and manage all strategic and operational aspects of the group. The CEO will be responsible for driving the company’s growth both organically and through M&A, as well as shaping its strategic vision for success.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Ultimate P&L responsibility for the group
  • Implement and oversee Embrace Steel Group’s strategic plans, ensuring alignment with both short-term and long-term objectives.
  • Drive and raise ESG’s profile in the market with a focus on high level business development.
  • Identify and execute strategies to achieve synergies across the group’s businesses.
  • Collaborate with the Board to identify suitable acquisition targets and opportunities. Establish and nurture relationships with potential acquirers.
  • Successfully onboard and integrate new business acquisitions into the group.
  • Ensure strict adherence to health and safety regulations, legal guidelines and in-house policies to maintain the company’s legal and ethical standing.
  • Cultivate trust-based relationships with key partners and stakeholders, serving as a primary point of contact for significant shareholders.
  • Partner with the CFO in overseeing financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and cash flow management. Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting to stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
  • Collaborate with the COO to optimise operational processes, improve efficiency and reduce costs across all business units within Embrace Steel Group.

Candidate Requirements

We are looking for outstanding candidates with a breadth of leadership experience and strong track record of identifying and delivering synergies in a group of companies. The CEO will be a judicious and inspirational leader, capable of envisioning the broader corporate landscape while always considering the human element.

While we are open to applications from a variety of industry sectors and backgrounds, an in-depth knowledge of the markets and industry in which the company operates, namely structural steel and broader construction contracting, is strongly preferred.
