Director of Housing and Care

The organisation

Viewpoint Housing Association (VHA) is a registered non-profit making organisation providing a range of general needs housing, supported housing and care services for older people in Edinburgh, the Lothians and Fife. With an annual turnover over £18m, we own 1340 properties across the areas with two care homes in Edinburgh.

Established in 1947, our primary objective is to improve the quality of life and well-being of our tenants and care home residents through promoting independence, enabling choice and offering peace of mind in a safe, secure and supported environment. VHA’s continued strong financial performance provides the platform on which we will invest in homes that are fit for the future and energy efficient whilst remaining affordable.

The role

In this role as Director you will be an aspiring strategic leader with the gravitas to influence and make strong and informed business decisions. You will have excellent communication skills, and experience in delivering change and working collaboratively with senior leaders. 

The Director of Housing & Care will report directly to the Chief Executive and be a member of the Executive Team contributing towards the strategic direction, effective governance and leadership of VHA to ensure that as an organisation, we accomplish our vision, mission and aims. 

As Director you will provide leadership and guidance to the Housing, Care and Housing Support Teams, ensuring delivery of the strategic objectives which contribute to the success of the overall business performance. 

You are accountable for VHA’s comprehensive housing management service, developing innovative housing support and care services and implementing partnership initiatives to improve and sustain the health, wellbeing and independence of our current and future customers. 

As a leader within the organisation, you will be expected to live Viewpoint’s workplace behaviours and values. The successful candidate

We are looking for a proven leader with at least five years’ experience and strategic responsibility at senior management or Executive level. You should have extensive experience of engaging with customers and leading sizeable operational teams. You will also have a strong track record of driving customer service performance through application of effective service governance, planning, delivery and quality assurance.  

You will be a strategic thinker, with the ability to deliver a vision of the future organisation and have a commitment to continuous improvement and excellence. We are looking for a dynamic and flexible person with the ability to plan and prioritise a diverse workload to meet challenging deadlines.  

Location

This role will be based in Viewpoint’s head office in Edinburgh.
