Chief Financial & Corporate Officer

The National Trust for Scotland (NTS) is the country’s largest independent conservation charity, founded in 1931 to care for and provide access to some of the country’s most precious historic places and natural landscapes.  With over 330,000 members, we’re also the largest membership organisation in Scotland. Responsible for over 110 visited properties including gardens, castles, islands, coastlines, nature reserves, historic birth places, and much more, in 2023 we attracted a record 4.5m visitors. The organisation is a charity independent of government, generating its funding from its growing enterprise, fundraising, investments, and membership.

The Chief Financial & Corporate Officer is a critical appointment, working at the most senior level in the organisation with responsibilities including:

• All aspects of financial strategy, management and development
• Project Management Office
• ICT
• Data Protection
• Investment management

You will be joining the Trust at an exciting time of strong financial and visitor performance and ambitious long-term capital investment plans.  We are looking for a dynamic leader who will work closely with the Chief Executive, Trustees and Senior Leadership team in holding the organisation financially to account, increasing its profitability and efficiency, delivering major projects in support of its corporate development, and helping to drive it strategically as it looks forward to its centenary in 2031.

You will be a qualified accountant with broad business exposure to essential corporate functions, including ICT and investment.  An understanding of charity governance is helpful but not essential.  We are open to applications from all sectors – most importantly, the person we appoint will be closely aligned with the values and purpose of NTS and be highly motivated to contribute to our vital charitable purpose.
