The Scottish Seabird Centre (SSC) is an award-wining 5-star visitor attraction situated at North Berwick harbour, East Lothian, with stunning views across the Firth of Forth and the iconic Bass Rock.

Since 2000, the SSC has helped to revitalise the historic harbour area and North Berwick as a popular town for people to visit. The SSC is a non-profit conservation and education charity dedicated to inspiring people to care for wildlife and the natural environment. Income from SSC is invested in charitable work undertaken by a team of committed staff and volunteers.

At the heart of what SSC does is a vision to inspire people to appreciate and care for wildlife and the natural environment in a fun, interactive, informative and sustainable way. The centre runs a wide variety of public events, talks and exhibitions and is committed to encouraging debate and action on vital wildlife and conservation issues.

The CEO will lead a small, dedicated and professional team responsible for Fundraising, Finance, Marketing and Operations. SSC is on a journey and we are looking for a CEO with exceptional leadership skills who can drive success and guide the business through this exciting and challenging phase of its development.

The new CEO should be very motivated and excited by the opportunity to help shape and grow SSC.

We would expect the CEO to have:

* Experience of leading transformational change

* Experience and understanding of the commercial activities of a charity and of leading successful growth in that area

* Ability to work with all stakeholders – community and volunteers/internal and external

* A track record in driving successful fundraising

This is clearly an excellent opportunity to positively influence the next phase of SSC. As a consequence, it goes without saying that the CEO needs to be an excellent leader and a strong voice in the business and externally.
