Located in Elgin, in the heart of the world-famous whisky producing region of Speyside, Gordon & MacPhail is a proud family owned business with over 125 years of expertise in Single Malt Scotch Whiskies. From its beginnings as a retailer, the business has grown its global brand and reputation for selecting, maturing, bottling and exporting some of the world’s oldest and most sought after malt whiskies, as well growing the brands of whisky distilled at their own distilleries.

Owned by the Urquhart family, Gordon & MacPhail is clear about its ambition, purpose and values , embracing the philosophy that the future is shaped by what we do today, and today reveals what we did in the past. The Family and Board have always taken a strategic long-term view of the growth and development of the business and in 1993 purchased Benromach Distillery in Forres. This month, they celebrated the first anniversary of distillation at their new distillery, The Cairn, a modern home for the ancient craft of whisky-making, which is located in the beautiful Cairngorm National Park. The distilleries, which are owned and operated by the company, are of immense strategic importance for the longer term, and the company is ambitious for growth of its own brands.

The company has experienced particularly impressive top and bottom-line growth in recent years as well as success in exporting to International markets. In anticipation of the retirement of the incumbent, the company is now looking to appoint a Chief Executive (CE) to lead the Board and the business in the pursuit of the next exciting chapter in the development of the business.

We are looking for an experienced, ambitious and strategic leader with strong people, communication and commercial skills, whose values are aligned with those of the family and the business. Experience of growing luxury brands in international markets and delivering change and results with a long term perspective are also desirable for this Elgin based position.

The successful candidate must come from an experienced Chief Executive, Managing Director or Chief Operating Officer type background with a broad general management skill-set in a growing consumer focussed organisation.
