Built Environment, Infrastructure & Support Services

Stuart MacGregor, has been appointed CFO of Forth Ports. Previously, Stuart had been CEO and CFO of Stewart Milne as well as holding senior leadership roles at William Grant & Sons, Heineken and Scottish & Newcastle.

Forth Ports is one of the largest port operating groups in the UK and employees over 1,300 people across eight commercial ports in the UK: Tilbury on the Thames, Dundee on the Firth of Tay and six on the Firth of Forth – Leith, Grangemouth, Rosyth, Methil, Burntisland and Kirkcaldy.

Forth Green Freeport, potentially Scotland’s largest opportunity to deliver a just transition to net zero whilst attracting inwards investment, building international trade and delivering 50,000 new and green jobs, has appointed Sarah Murray as Chief Executive. Sarah brings significant political and governmental experience from 16 years in Brussels in various senior roles as well as more recently as Director of Local London, Executive Director of the Thames Estuary and Head of Regulation for the City of London.

Industry specialist, Andrew Francis, has joined leading timber processing group James Jones & Sons as Commercial Director – bringing significant experience from Premier Forest Products, Norbord and Knauf.

I Squared backed recycling and resource recovery specialist Enva has appointed experienced commercial and financial executive leader Terry Strain as their new CFO. Terry was previous CEO and CFO of Baxter’s Food Group, FD of Hovis and FD with Associated British Foods and PepsiCo.

SNIB backed FOR:EV, a scaling and innovative EV Charging Point installation specialist, has appointed Graham Neill as their new CFO. Graham joins with a wealth of corporate finance and investments experience, most recently with N4 Partners and Clyde Blowers Capital.

Warmworks, a joint venture between Everwarm (Sureserve plc), Changeworks and the Energy Savings Trust, are committed to providing affordable warmth to homes across the UK. They has appointed ex Capita Utilities FD and ex Carillion Energy Services FD Mark Jeffreys as CFO.

Steel Fabrication and cladding specialists AJ Engineering has appointed Kevin Kydd to lead Manufacturing and Operations. An experienced mechanical Engineer, Kevin joins with a wealth of experience from Subsea7, Dragon Energy Services and Sermiax.

Consumer

Angus Cockburn, experienced FTSE Chair, NXD and CFO, has become Chair of Edrington – home of some of the spirits industries most luxury brands including The Macallan, Highland Park and Brugal. Having advised Angus and Edrington on his initial appointment as Audit Chair and SID we are delighted to congratulate him on being promoted to Chair of the Board.

Brian McMonagle and Mark Steven, has been appointed Chair and NXD as part of a Foresight private equity backed buyout / MBI of industry-leading processor of meat products Quality Food Products.

Pamela Scott has been appointed Chair of Scotland Food and Drink. Pamela spent 28 years in global drinks giant Diageo, most latterly as Global Operational Excellence Director before taking up her portfolio career that currently also includes Chair of Places for People Scotland, NXD with Donaldson Group and Chair of Big Hearts Community Trust. John Donnelly, previous Commercial Director of Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games and CEO of member organisation Marketing Edinburgh has joined the board of Scotland Food & Drink as Membership and Commercial Director.

Chair of Artisanal Spirits plc’s Remuneration Committee and Non-Executive with the Bank of Ireland, Helen Page, has joined as Non-Executive Director for the Scottish Football Association. Helen was previously Chief Brand Officer with Virgin Money and now leads a plural NXD portfolio.

International Beverage, producers of premium single malts such as Old Pultney and recent acquirer of luxury French cognac Larsen, has appointed FMCG specialist Fiona Kennie as Marketing Director. Fiona previously progressed through similar marketing roles with Innis & Gunn and The Macallan.

LDC private equity backed Duncan and Todd has appointed Kevin Sutherland as their new CFO. Kevin joins the Aberdeen head office from Three60 Energy where he held the role of Finance Director.

The Edinburgh Practice, an award-winning multidisciplinary mental health practice, has appointed Hazel Monteith as Head of Growth and Operations. Hazel joins from Medinet where she was Director of Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Innovate UK has established the UK Agri-Tech Centre to drive and support innovation and technology adoption across the sector. As part of their growth, experienced HRD Siobhan Clarke joins as Human Resources Director.

The leading voice for Scottish Agriculture since 1784, RHASS has appointed experienced Finance Director Nicky Wood to their Board. Nicky joins from L.S Starrett Company.

A division of Japanese giant Nikon Co, Optos is a world leading retinal imaging technology firm specialising in early detection of systemic and ocular disease. Thomas Stevenson, previous COO of Ocutec, has joined as Director of Quality.

Employee Owned, innovative manufacturing and textiles specialist Scott & Fyfe has appointed proven growth minded leader, investor and non-executive director Mark Kerr as Chair alongside his portfolio roles with Ross-shire Engineering (RSE) and Aberdeen Sports Village.

Specialist cabling and fibre optic manufacturing company Leviton has appointed Gordon Macfarlane as Senior Financial Controller. Gordon joins from his most recent role with BT, having previously been with Glacier Energy.

Todd & Duncan, 150+ year old market leading cashmere yarn spinners, has appointed Allan Stewart as Production Director. Allan joins with experience from Argent Energy, Grissan and Diageo.

Danny Goldie, has joined API Foilmakers (ALDUS) as Operations Director from Newleaf International where he was a Business Consultant, having previously held Operational leadership roles with SAICA UK.

Martin Cannon has also been appointed as Interim Finance Director, having previously been with Highland Spring as Group Financial Controller.

Innovative family-owned Textile Technology business Wilkie has appointed Simon Duggan-Hill as their new Chief Commercial Officer. Simon joins from Henkel where he was GM for Western Europe.

Pete Collinson has joined leading global bus manufacturer Alexander Dennis as Aftermarket Director, joining from Volvo where he held a number of commercial, service and transformation focussed positions.

Specialist aviation commercial and sales leader Charles Pizano has joined Barnes Aerospace as OEM Sales Director. He previously led Salesforce’s Accounts Strategy within Aerospace and Defence as well as having experience with Collins Aerospace and UTC Aerospace Systems.

Samuel Jamieson has joined family-owned packaging producer Smith Anderson as Sales Director. Samuel takes up the post having most recently held the CEO position with adhesives manufacturer Quin Global, where he was also responsible for sales and strategy.

Public Sector and Not For Profit

Gavin Munn, Director of Cordatus Real Estate and Non-Executive Director of Edinburgh Leisure has joined the Court of GCU as Lay Member – Estates.

The RSNO, one of Europe’s leading symphony orchestras, has appointed Gregor Stewart as Chair. Gregor, an ex-EY Partner, brings a wealth of NXD and Chair experience including from his current portfolio as Chair of FNZ Group and Non-Executive Director of Direct Line Group.

The Crown Estate Scotland has made two recent executive appointments with Mike Spain joining as Director of Agriculture and Marine Ecosystem Services and Ann Jacob Chandler joining as Director of Development, Capital Delivery and Decarbonisation. Mike joins from SAMS Enterprise where he was Head of Enterprise and Ann joins from Stirling Council where she held the role of Head of Economic Development, Planning and Change.

Dr Ian Mair, Non-Executive Director with Grosvenor Australia Asia Pacific and NearSt, alongside Carolina Castro who is a Senior Vice President with Wood plc has both joined their Alma Mater, The University of Dundee, as Lay Members of Court.

Penny McIntyre, former HR Director for Openreach’s Fibre Network Delivery business and previously HRD with Network Rail and HR Manager with Sheffield Hallam University has joined Heriot-Watt as their Global Director of HR.

We have also advised Heriot Watt on the recent appointment of their next Global Executive Director of University Operations with, previous COO Change Delivery & Performance Director of Nationwide, Fiona Kennie joining the leadership team in November.

Hannover Scotland, one of Scotland’s largest social landlords, has appointed Esther Wilson, former Director of Housing and Care with Viewpoint, as their new Director of Customer Services.

Dominic Fry has been appointed as Chair of Zero Waste Scotland. Dominic is the current chair of The Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh and was previously Director of Communications and Investor Relation with Marks & Spencer as well as Director of Comms with Sainsburys and Scottish Power.

Alongside Dominic, and joining as Independent Non-Executive Director, is Catherine Corbett who is the ex CFO of Deloitte in Ireland.

Experienced NXD and previous Corporate Law Partner and Wood Group plc General Counsel Robbie Brown has joined the Board of Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance as Chairman.

The Faculty of Advocates, which has been at the forefront of legal excellence since 1532, has appointed Suzanne Lonergan as Head of Finance. Suzanne joins following five years with Atalian Servest.

Experienced Head of HR Gillian Longmire has joined specialist housing and care provider Blackwood Group as Head of People and Culture.

Financial and Professional Services

Previous Finance Director for NatWest Group’s Commercial and Institutional Business, Matt Waymark, has joined Alba Bank as CFO to lead this new disruptive bank through it’s licencing process and scale up phase.

Established in 1862 as the City of Glasgow Friendly Society, Scottish Friendly now has over 150 years’ worth of experience and expertise as a leading player in their industry. As part of their on-going investment they have appointed David Turner, previous Head of Advisor Proposition with Standard Life, as their Head of Products.

Fast Growing Insure-Tech company Broker Insights, focussed on empowering the commercial insurance industry through data led decision making, has appointed Barbara Miller as their new Head of Broker Engagement.

Johnston Carmichael is the largest independent firm of chartered accountants and business advisers headquartered in Scotland, and one of the UK’s top 10 accountancy firms. With more continued growth and success, the Partnership created two new non-executive roles, being taken up by Michael Timar and Les Clifford. Michael, a former PWC Partner, has a specialism in Audit and Assurance across multiple industries, and Les brings a wealth of international experience having previously been Senior Partner, Global Client and Lead Audit Partner as well as Switzerland Country Managing Partner with EY.

Specialist procurement and inventory management services company, Amici Procurement Solutions, has appointed Charlotte Parkinson as Head of Finance. Charlotte brings experience from the Healthcare and Professional Services industries from Agile Solutions GB, Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust and Kettering General Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Experienced investment specialist with Abrdn and Martin Currie, turned plural NXD, Elizabeth Flockhart has joined the Nuclear Liabilities Fund as NXD, member of the Investment Committee and Chair of the Audit Committee. The NLF is the operating company of the Nuclear Trust, a c£20bn AUM decommissioning fund.

Scottish HR Leadership Group

Under the guidance of outgoing Chair, Rosemary McGinness of Weir Group, the Scottish HR Leadership Group Main Board has recently reviewed its purpose and design. Resulting from this has been the appointment of Alison Kidd, previously Virgin Money, as Chair of a re-focused ‘Expert Advisory Board’ to support and enable their Scottish HR Leadership Operating Board.
