FWB Park Brown, Scottish Ballet and Corney & Barrow partner on Exclusive Virtual Event

  • Uncategorized

Last night we were delighted to host a joint virtual event with the wonderful and world-renowned Scottish Ballet along with Corney & Barrow, the venerable wine purveyors.

Our guests enjoyed a private screening of the Scottish Ballet’s newest and amazing digital performance ‘Indoors’ a collaboration between Choreographer in Residence Sophie Laplane and Company filmmaker Eve McConnachie. This was then followed by a candid chat with Sophie and Scottish Ballet’s Rehearsal Director, Oliver Rydout.  They spoke about the process of creating this performance completely in lockdown by zoom, what the challenges were, what they learnt, how they filmed and how the dancers worked in isolation.

We were also joined by Ian Matthews of Corney & Barrow, who are also the Scottish Ballet’s Official Wine Sponsor – supplying wine and their expertise to the Ballet’s exclusive corporate and donor events, fundraising galas and most recently virtual events.  Ian took our guests through a short history of Corney & Barrow, along with a couple of carefully selected (and outstanding) wines and also talked about Corney & Barrow’s own experiences of and response to the current global crisis.

The constraints of the lockdown have clearly provided a massive creative challenge for the Ballet and the Arts industry in general and it was fantastic to see and hear how Scottish Ballet have responded, demonstrating their ingenuity and determination.  Kirsten Cockburn, Head of Sponsorship & Commercial with Scottish Ballet provided an overview on how the Scottish Ballet have managed to “pivot” and maintain and grow their community outreach during these unprecedented times. Willie Finlayson, Co-Founder of FWB Park Brown commented ‘our guests were all friends of FWB PB – and after last night you can see how easy it would be to become friends of Scottish Ballet and Corney & Barrow as well. What’s not to like really!?’

With some fantastic and interesting speakers it made for a very memorable and enjoyable evening and a great opportunity to collaborate and support both the Arts and Drinks industries.
