FWB are delighted to have partnered with leading spirits producer Edrington, and brand home of market leading single malt whisky ‘The Macallan’, to advise on the appointment of their next Audit Chair – Patricia Huyghues Despointes.
Following a global search led by Ailsa Sutherland and Michael Dickson, with a particular focus on luxury, consumer and some select international markets, the Board felt an immediate cultural fit with Patricia. As well as being aligned to their culture and values, Patricia brings a wealth of experience in luxury and consumer goods. Currently serving as Chief Financial Officer at SMCP, a Paris-listed fashion group, Patricia has held CFO and senior financial positions at Givenchy and LVMH, where she played a key role in driving financial strategy and operational excellence within globally recognised luxury brands. Her deep understanding of financial governance, combined with her experience in high-growth, premium markets, made her an ideal choice to lead Edrington’s Audit Committee and contribute to the broader strategic direction of the company.
Commenting on the appointment from FWB, Ailsa Sutherland noted:
“The global luxury consumer market continues to evolve at pace, with increasing demand for leaders who combine financial rigour with a deep understanding of premium brands and their customers. Throughout this process, we were privileged to meet with an outstanding calibre of candidates, each bringing a unique perspective on the intersection of finance and consumer markets. Patricia stood out not only for her impressive financial leadership track record but also for her ability to navigate complex commercial environments with clarity and strategic insight. We are thrilled to have played a role in her appointment and have every confidence in the impact she will bring to Edrington.”
Patricia’s appointment follows Angus’ promotion from Audit Chair to Chair of the Board of Directors. Angus himself has had a highly experienced financial leader, having held CFO positions at both Serco Group plc and Aggreko plc. He currently serves as Chair of James Fisher & Sons plc, Senior Independent Director at Ashtead Group plc, and a Non-Executive Director at BAE Systems plc. His transition to Chair reflects Edrington’s continued commitment to strong governance and leadership as it strengthens its position in the ultra-premium spirits market. Having advised Edrington previously on Angus’ appointment as Audit Chair, we extend our congratulations to Angus on his promotion and are delighted to have had the opportunity, as well as his and the Board’s trust, to have partnered on his succession.
Edrington has also welcomed Edward Cumming-Bruce to the Board as a Non-Executive Director. A co-founder of investment bank Gleacher Shacklock and formerly of Kleinwort Benson, Edward brings deep expertise in corporate finance and governance. As an adviser to Edrington’s principal shareholder, the Robertson Trust, he will represent their interests at the Board level, further enhancing the company’s strategic oversight.
Commenting on both appointments, CEO Scott McCroskie commented:
“Edward and Patricia are welcome additions to an already strong group of non-executive directors on Edrington’s board. Their experience will be instrumental in helping us as we navigate the challenges and opportunities ahead.”
FWB are proud to have supported Edrington in Patricia’s critical appointment, reinforcing their commitment to excellence in leadership, corporate governance, and the evolving global luxury market. We wish Patricia, Edward, and all of the Edrington team every success going forward.
