Engineering Director

It is an incredibly exciting time for the business, with strong growth in recent years and further growth projected for 2025. On top of this Tritech has bold ambition to significantly scale internationally over the next 5 years. 

The Engineering Director is a business-critical Board Level appointment, reporting directly to the Managing Director. The Engineering Director will be a strategic leader, responsible for developing the company’s technology strategy and the implementation of new product development. 

This person will lead, manage and develop a talented team of 15 Engineers, which is crucial in fulfilling the company’s strategy of new product design and enhancement of existing products. This role is instrumental in contributing to organisational growth due to the company’s high technology product offering. 

The business has a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Ulverston, South Lakes, where the Engineering Director’s role will be based. 

They will be responsible for the following; 

• Operating as a member of the senior management team responsible for overall results and product/engineering strategy. 

• Providing leadership, guidance and support to the company’s Engineering disciplines across all departments. 

• Development of all Tritech Engineering Methods and Practices for all disciplines. 

• Oversight of progress and timeliness of product development projects. 

• Management of the Engineering Steering group of managers. 

• Ensuring all adherence regulatory compliance of company products. 

The ideal candidate will bring a strong mix of technical and leadership capability to the business, including an inspiring and proactive approach to engineering design and development. 

The individual will have spent a meaningful amount of time in a senior management/ leadership position and have a demonstrable track record of product development and delivery in a technical industry. 

Specifically, they will possess most of the following: 

• Degree in an Engineering discipline, or equivalent, incorporating a significant element of electronic, mechanical, electro/mechanical or software design. 

• Notable experience in product or system design (development) in an ISO related technical product environment. 

• Experience of full lifecycle project management from ideation to completion. 

• A proactive, collaborative and inspiring approach to people management with experience and evidence of developing people and improving teams. 

• Experience in HR related areas, including recruitment and performance management. 

• The ability and desire to function as part of a team, providing support to other areas of the business where required. 

Above and beyond this it would be advantageous if the successful candidate has a working knowledge of the company’s product range, from an operational and systems perspective.
